The Last Day of School
The last day of school was last Wednesday. They had a half day and Haley’s class had a party. Connor’s class had a party the day before and I didn’t take pictures because it was mostly kids running around the room and there wasn’t a formality to the ending. Haley’s class; however, was photo worthy. I feel badly having an “uneven” post on this day but his class partied on the day before … after field day activities in the morning. They had a pizza party and I made a slide show for the teacher of the year’s activities and they wrote in the memory books and hung out playing games the rest of the time.
Haley’s class had an ice cream party and the teacher had put their report cards and awards for them in one packet along with a little something wrapped with a ribbon. Here are the pictures. I’m very proud of her for making the Principles List again. She’s doing so well in school with the help of this wonderful teacher

I have to add that the school assigned the kids to teachers next year already and I’m so frustrated to find out that I have “mystery” teachers!!! Two teachers that are new to the school. Why? Why? Why? Do teachers not have any input to place kids whose parents help in classes that they’d like?!? I lost count for the number of hours I put in at the school and typically it would “pay” off in terms of getting an “in” for teachers in the upcoming year. I was told that I couldn’t move them and there was nothing the principle could do. AND WHY WHY WHY did I agree to be on the PTO Board to help this principle and the school? I am praying that next year I can have teachers that are a good match for my kids. You never know with the ones that you have just met but it was certainly more comforting envisioning a familiar face … ugghhhhh!!! Now I’m a little stressed … it feels like last year all over again … because the teachers make such a HUGE difference in the experience that my kids have every day. I know what a great difference Haley had when changing teachers after a few months. If we hadn’t gone through that … I probably wouldn’t be losing sleep over it (and I wouldn’t have gotten all choked up in the Principles office when he looked smugly at me and said there was nothing he could do). I’m usually an optimist but I have such a horrible gut feeling on this one.

I wish school was over with up here…it seems like nothing “real” gets done anyway after Memorial Weekend…why bother? Could do with less of those random “LID” days they have every month!
I hope things work out with the new teachers. My kids got real lucky this year with their teachers…I can only hope that next year works out just as good.
