Field Day!

The end of the year field day was very interesting at the kids’ school. They divided up into mixed teams from all different classrooms and wore colored shirts. I helped all morning and anticipated some great competition between teams (assuming that was why they mixed them up … to make the teams more even in skill level) but they rotated around and just played games in their own color teams … no competitions? At the end of the day was the big tug-o-war where I anticipated, again, some color team competitions but they went back into their classes and competed by class. I’m not quite sure why they divided up all of the kids and gave them to different teachers for the day when it would have been so fun to have done it by class. Maybe a “community” building thing? … to encourage integration with kids in other classes and other grades? Regardless of my not understanding the rationale … the kids had a blast.
